2015 will be a milestone year for the Dubai World Cup. The upcoming edition of one of the biggest horse racing events in the world will mark its 20th anniversary. Therefore, fans of the sport can expect many surprises from this year’s richest day in horse racing world.

Dubai World Cup - race 3 finish

The 2015 Dubai World Cup, the finale of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, will be held on March 28 (Saturday). The event will feature nine high-class races and a prize of $10 million.

One of the most curious facts about the 20th edition of the Dubai World Cup is that it will use a new dirt track. Organizers of the event replaced the Tapeta racing surface after relying on it over the past four years. The race this year will take place over a dirt surface, which was installed in 2014. The dirt surface was used over the first 14 years of the race’s history. Unlike Tapeta, this surface is natural. The race will very much likely be more dynamic.

The traditional fashion contest is a must at any big horse race event. The Dubai World Cup is no exception. This year as every other year in the past, there will be a competition for the best-dressed lady, man and couple. In addition, there will be prizes for best hat, most creative hat and most elegant lady. Some of the winners will have the chance to win a brand new car or a diamond-encrusted watch.

Another highlight of the 20th Dubai World Cup will be a special musical performance by superstar Kylie Monogue. The Australian singer will perform in a 90-minute concert in celebration of the event’s milestone birthday. Minogue will performance right after the closing of the race. The “Lucky” singer shared that she is very excited to take part in Dubai World Cup’s anniversary celebration and she promises her fans “an unforgettable experience.”

The Dubai World Cup first begun back in 1996 when Cigar claimed the inaugural running. In just two decades, the event was successfully established as one of the most important horse racing events on a global level. The first Dubai World Cup Night offered purses that totaled at $4.66 million and it featured participants from six countries. In contrast, the 2014 Dubai World Cup Night had total purses of $27.25 million and participants from almost 80 countries.
