Singer Zayn Malik took a break from the current One Direction’s world tour due to stress and is now back in the UK to spend time with his family. He will obviously skip the shows in Manila and Jakarta, leaving millions of fans disheartened. And panic is now spreading among his fans in Dubai – will he make it for Dubai’s date?
Simon Jones, One Direction’s publicist confirmed on Thursday that 22-year-old Zayn Malik has been “signed off with stressed” from the “On The Road Again” world tour. His bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson will continue with the dates in Manila and Jakarta although they were surprised by his decision, they are fully supportive. The People reported that they were really worried about him being too stressed and didn’t want him to leave. Zayn is now rumored to quit the band as fame may be coming just too much for him.
His break comes after (and probably because of) the rumors that he allegedly cheated on his fiancée after photos emerged of him with an arm around the bare stomach of a woman in a cropped top. Zayn has been engaged to Perrie Edwards of Little Mix since 2013, but the couple is said to have problems right now because of the pictures that emerged. He can be seen close to a fan girl in Phuket, Thailand. His frustration with the rumors is obviously huge as he tweeted on Wednesday that he loves Perrie, but there were a lot of jealous people out there. He also said he was sorry for what the picture looked like.
One Direction performed in Hong Kong on March 18 and will continue the tour without him in Manila and Jakarta, before flying for three gigs in South Africa. On 4 April, the English-Irish pop band is set to delight fans in Dubai at The Sevens Stadium. However, thousands of teen girls in the UAE will be heartbroken they won’t be able to see Zayn as he isn’t likely to return.
This isn’t the first time the singer is said to be splitting from the band. Last year, a video circulated online, showing Malik and Tomlinson smoking cannabis and joking about drug use.
