The world’s largest shopping mall with over 1,200 shops, numerous restaurants and diverse entertainment options is now expanding even further! The famous Dubai Mall will get a new retail podium, offering even more diverse and indisputably unique shopping experience to visitors.
The Dubai Mall, which is indeed the largest shopping, leisure and entertainment destination in the world today, promises even more excitement to the millions residents and tourists who visit it each year. Emaar Properties, its developer and partial owner, just announced informally the launch of a new arcade extension, which will be linked to the Dubai Mall. It will be built opposite the main entrance of the mall, in Zabeel. Although there is still no official information about the exact size of it, it is said to become home of new stores, coffee shops and dining outlets. It will be ready in 2019.
It seems the Downtown Dubai is likely to become a retail city within the city. The Dubai Mall’s numerous extensions and a few nearby podium-level shopping arcades stretched between the upcoming towers, most likely will become the largest retail area in the region.
The new shopping arcade extension will serve as the foundation and the podium level of the 55-storey Zabeel Tower, which will be officially launched on April 4. The building is the latest addition to the Downtown area and the apartments on the front facade offer mesmerising views of Burj Khalifa – currently, the tallest man-made structure in the world.
Emaar’s brand-new project comes at a time when Dubai is rising in popularity as a global tourist destination with most of visitors going to the Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mall to experience the world’s highest public outdoor observation terrace, have fun at the Ice Rink, or visit the Dubai Aquarium. However, in Dubai, shopping is always a part of the city exploration, which is why the Dubai Mall is ever growing with new stores opening each month. In 2015 alone, the footfall of the mall reached 80,000 million, making it one of the most popular shopping and entertainment venues in the world.
Despite the ultra high rents for commercial space in the Dubai Mall, stores are constantly in huge demand. Retailers aren’t afraid to commit to these rents as the location and the prestigious address itself guarantees success. Shoppers, of course, are the most excited right now – the new extension means more shops, more new brands and fine dining outlets, all under one roof.
