The Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) in partnership with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG), today announced the inauguration of Dubai Watch Week (DWW), the first and largest dedicated horology event, a journey of discovery into the world of fine watchmaking, will take place in Dubai from the 18th to the 22nd October 2015. The event is supported by Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Culture & Arts Authority.
Dubai Watch Week (DWW) will celebrate the history, dedication, innovation, achievements and master craftsmanship in the world of horology. Presented through a cultural and educational platform including the GPHG Exhibition, workshops and forums in addition to private and public events, the five-day event aims to engage both established and emerging watch collectors regionally and internationally in the Gulf’s largest dedicated watch event.
“The appetite for greater insight into the world of watchmaking continues to grow exponentially in the Middle East, which has become a key export market during the last several decades,” said Mr. Abdulhamied Seddiqi, Vice Chairman of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. “Dubai Watch Week (DWW) is being established as a leading platform for education, debate and discovery into the world’s most innovative and covetable timepieces.”

Dubai Watch Week (DWW) will feature watch-making master classes conducted by some of the industry’s most respected watchmakers, an education and training initiative, a series of discussions by watchmaking experts, and a dynamic exhibition of must-see timepieces. To foster careers in watchmaking among new university graduates, DWW will also include an internship and mentorship programme.
