A total of 44.98 million passengers passed through Dubai International Airport during the first seven months of 2015, indicating an increase of 12.9 per cent when compared with the same period last year, Dubai Airports announces.

Dubai International Airport continued recording high rates of growth with rising passenger numbers. In July there were 86.6m passengers passing through the airport, up 29.6 per cent compared with the same month of 2014, Aliqtisadi reports.

Dubai Airports attributed this increase to the development of the airport’s runways. Construction work lasted 80 days, between May and July 2015. During this period 26 trips were re-directed from Dubai Airport to Al Maktoum International Airport.

India came in first place in terms of passenger traffic in Dubai Airport, followed by Britain in second place, Saudi Arabia in third place and the United States in fourth, while Pakistan came in fifth place.

London, Doha, Kuwait, Mumbai and Jeddah occupied the list of the most popular destinations from Dubai International Airport.

It is noteworthy that the movement of aircraft rose to 33,650 movements last July, with an increase of 35 per cent compared with 24,920 movements recorded during the same month of 2014.
