Short holiday breaks, especially during weekends or public holidays, can lighten up your stuck-in-the-routine life. Quick getaways can help you escape all workday troubles and recharge your “battery”. The only problem with the short holiday breaks and trips is that they are… short! Weekend and public holidays vacations can pass in a blink of an eye. That is why it is important to prepare well in order to make the most of your short break.
What to Take?
Often people decide to go on a short getaway on the spur of the moment. It is not like planning for months, booking a hotel room two months in advance and searching for the cheapest rates during airfares sales. You don’t have much time to pack and you may end up forgetting some essential items. Therefore, try to make a quick short list of things you need to take. Pack according to the location and the final destination of your trip. For example, if you are going to a beach-themed short break, don’t forget to take your swimsuit. Avoid packing clothes which are not practical. Dress simple and leave all expensive and oversized accessories, like necklaces and bracelets, at home. Always take a jacket even in the summer. Otherwise, the whims of the weather may find you unprepared. Also, pack clothes that combine well with various outfits and accessories. Other things you need to take are toothbrushes, a mobile phone charger and a small bag of toiletries. Oh, and don’t forget your pajamas!
Other Preparations and Organization
In order to enjoy your short holiday breaks to the fullest you can simply do a few basic things:
Plan activities – When you plan your short getaway don’t pack it with too many activities. If you do that, you are likely to feel more tired after the break than before it. However, you still need to do a little research on the region to which you are planning to head. See what it offers – restaurants, souvenir shops, hotels, etc. Also, make a small schedule for your trip. A good idea is to plan the route to your getaway. In that way you can avoid the heavy traffic roads.
Book early – If you can, try to book your hotel online, or even dinner and tour, as early as possible. In that way you won’t waste any valuable time when you get there.
Forget about work – Do not, we repeat, do not bring any work on you short break! Moreover, don’t even think about your work. There is no point in going on a vacation and taking the office with you.
