The travel site recently announced the winners of its Travelers’ Choice™ awards for Destinations on the Rise. The awards highlight 52 destinations around the world selected by using an algorithm that primarily measured the year-over-year increase in positive TripAdvisor traveler feedback and interest in accommodations, restaurants and attractions, across destinations worldwide.

Gatlinburg in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains is named the top U.S. destination on the rise, while the beach resort town of Tulum, Mexico earned the ranking of number one in the world. The ranking also revealed the most interesting destinations for travelers in Asia, Europe, South America and the South Pacific. In Asia, tourists will explore mostly India and Thailand.
