Dubai International saw through over 78 million passengers in 2015, more than enough for the airport to retain its title of world’s busiest airport for international passengers, operator Dubai Airports said Monday.

Annual passenger traffic grew by 10.7 per cent to 78,014,838 passengers, up from 70,473,893 in 2014, according to an emailed statement.

Its closest rival, London’s Heathrow airport, handled 69.76 million international passengers in 2015. In 2014 Dubai International overtook London Heathrow to become the world’s busiest airport.

“It’s another banner year for Dubai International where we broke records, engaged and entertained our customers in new ways, and retained our position as the world’s number one international hub,” Dubai Airports Chief Executive Paul Griffiths said in Monday’s statement.
