The registration for the annual spring camp of “Al Jalila Cultural Centre for Children” (AJCCC) is now open. Titled, “Athar” the camp is planned to run from March 28 until April 7 of 2016, from 10am until 2 in the afternoon. Children in the age group of four and sixteen years are eligible to register for the popular camp that is well known for its creative and learning activities during the spring break.
This year AJCCC is planning to focus on a list of learning activities that are centered on the importance of desert lifestyle in sharing our heritage. Participating children will learn to appreciate the many facets of the desert life, its beauty, the rich tradition of Arabian horses, the authentic Arabian hospitality, art and sports unique to the desert. The camp will aim to educate children about the rich heritage of the UAE and the region, and introduce traditional themes of art, sport and cultural activities within the schedule of the Spring Camp.
Several organisations have already come forward to collaborate with AJCCC in presenting the cultural themes of the Spring Camp, for example, the Civil Defense Department and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority. In collaboration with Dubai Health Authority, one of the camp activities will be themed around the World Health Day while Dubai Sports Council will help children celebrate the World Day for Physical Activity under the slogan “Active Child, Healthy Adult.”
The “Athar” Spring Camp is part of the annual series of events organized by AJCCC to motivate children and engage them with learning activities that develop their understanding of Emirati culture and heritage. Activities are designed to nurture creativity and innovative mindset while interacting with inspirations from past and present.
