The monthly inflation in the prices of goods and services, part of consumers’ basket in the Emirate of Dubai, rose by 0.76 percent in June, compared to the month of May in the previous year.
According to a report issued by the Dubai Statistics Centre (DSC), the prices of commodities in the food and beverages group rose by 2.15 percent, the transport group by 2.09 percent, and the clothing and footwear group by 1.57 percent, while the restaurants and hotels group rose by 0.45 percent.
It added that the inflation index for the group of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel rose by 0.39 percent. The prices of furniture set, furniture and household items and repairs rose by 0.31 percent.
The report said the health group rates increased by 0.16 percent, while the prices of miscellaneous goods and services group rose by 0.09 percent. The prices for the recreation and culture group rose by 0.07 percent.
On the other hand, the annual inflation index of the prices of goods and services in the consumer basket rose by 2.23 percent in the month of June 2016, compared to the same period of 2015. The increase in tuition fees pushed up the prices in the education group index by 6.74 percent.
Regarding the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel group, the report showed high monthly inflation index registering an increase of 0.39 percent as the rising rents paid by tenants rose by 0.46 percent.
