Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi at Al Maryah Island invites mothers and daughters to experience a stylish Fashion Afternoon Tea on Wednesday 9th November 2016, as Dubai-based Saudi designer Effa Al Dabbagh offers an exclusive preview of her Fall/Winter 2016-17 ‘Mommy and Me’ collection in Al Meylas, ‘the living room of Abu Dhabi’.
Born in Saudi Arabia, Effa Al Dabbagh is the Creative Director of her eponymous label that is dedicated to empowering women by making them feel beautiful and confident and inspiring them to draw their strength from their femininity. With the brand’s focus on couture-like attention to detail, mothers and daughters joining the Al Meylas Afternoon Tea can look forward to intricate design, fine fabrics, beautiful cuts and luxurious finishing in the new collection.
Located in the luxurious property, Al Meylas, the light, sophisticated lounge provides a vibrant place of gathering while paying homage to the capital’s Arabic culture with a warm welcome and generous hospitality, the perfect setting for exquisite afternoon tea whether traditional English or Middle Eastern inspired.
Blending urban chic and understated luxury, Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi celebrates its waterfront location with an abundance of floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, emphasising light, open spaces and showcasing over 2,000 pieces of culturally connected artwork from local and international artists. At the heart and soul of the Hotel, Al Meylas welcomes natural light, set against expansive views of the city skyline and the sparkling waves of the Arabian Gulf, an iconic setting for this elegant Fashion Afternoon Tea.
While little fashionistas try out Effa’s latest creations in runway style alongside professional models, mothers to Al Meylas can enjoy a variety of flavourful hand-selected teas, artful coffees and non-alcoholic beverages accompanied by sweet and savoury delicacies in a majlis-style homely setting. Other delectable treats include contemporary classics including Scottish smoked salmon macaroons with American caviar and freshly baked warm traditional scones, as well as intricate highlights from the pastry kitchen such as apple pie éclair, tiramisu chocolate lollipops and pistachio rolls with chamomile glaze.
Those looking for a taste of modern Arabic flavours can opt for ‘Middle Eastern Pampering Afternoon Tea’ with savoury delights from hummus, mutabal, tabbouleh and whole-wheat pita to mini zaatar manakish followed by an array of sweet treats for dessert connoisseurs including kustawi dates, almond brownies, muhallabia, rice pudding and saffron sago panna cotta. Guests can also look forward to a selection of ‘must-try’ homemade ice creams such as camel milk, baklava, saffron as well as Arabic coffee.
As an authentic gesture of hospitality, guests gathering in Al Meylas are offered a scent from the lounge’s partner, Tola Perfumery, to enhance the Fashion Afternoon Tea dining experience. Tola showcases eight evocative fragrances to capture the hearts of aficionados looking for excellence, craftsmanship and genuineness with each scent narrating a story of its own. Inspired by Qahwah (Arabic coffee) and Bukhoor (incense), which remain to be the symbol of Middle Eastern warm hospitality and rich tradition, the Tola smelling cups, found on each Al Meylas table, have been developed to combine and capture the Gulf-ingrained customs introducing them in a unique way.
The Effa ‘Mommy and Me’ Fashion Afternoon Tea will be hosted on Wednesday, 9th November from 5pm to 7pm while English Pampering Afternoon Tea takes place in Al Meylas daily from 3pm until 6pm, both priced at AED 120*per person.
