“Camp Play” starts from the 9th of July till the 3rd of August at Dubai Sports World, it’s open to children from ages 6yrs to 15yrs. Camp Play is the brainchild of University Students who completed their high school in Dubai, some of them are currently studying overseas, following their dream careers, yet each of them involved in playing their favourite sport, which they unanimously agree keeps them stay fit and focussed.
Camp Play is conceptualised to “Give Back” and “Inspire” the next generation about creating a healthy lifestyle before it’s too late. Sports plays a major part of their life, be it for fun, fitness and even making new friends.
The founders of Camp Play are youngsters, aged between 19yrs to 25yrs old, expats from Germany, India, Nigeria, Philippines, Singapore, Srilanka, UK, and UAE’s own Fahad Al-Bloushi the young Emirati boxer currently studying in the UK, fighting as an amateur hoping to represent the UAE one day. These youngsters love the fact that in spite of their varied cultures and nationalities, sport has helped them bond and enjoy beautiful times in Dubai which they believe has to be shared as they truly miss the beautiful city and what it has to offer. While people go away for the summer to their home countries, they love calling Dubai their Home away from home as when they travel, they believe they are UAE ambassadors in their own way as everyone worldwide is astonished and curious about UAE.
Marie Claire Steichler, a 3rd year student at The University of Kent, says “From a young age, I have been involved in so many different sports but swimming, is definitely my favourite. Camp play is an extraordinary opportunity for children to learn different sports and make new friends. I can’t wait to be playing with the campers.”
Dylan Adams from Singapore is thrilled to be able to share his love for sport and hopes to get as many kids involved in the same. “Having played Rugby & Football in high school, I learnt that teamwork is essential for a functioning and successful team and creates a special bond among teammates”.
“At Camp Play we offer tools to kids for team building and team spirit and to give them the training to boost self-confidence, self-esteem and their fitness level all while having fun. Dodgeball and Quidditch are my favourites and I can’t wait to play dodgeball with my football crazy brother who is going to be joining Camp Play as a camper” says Amarichi Eluwah of Nigeria.
What makes Camp Play unique, is the fact that youth are the ones coaching the kids, some are professionally certified instructors, professional players, aspiring athletes, all having a common goal and passion for sport, eager to use Sport to bring about peace and healthy communities. Within the safe, worry free environment at Dubai Sports World.
Aaron Ferns, says that “Camp play would like to encourage campers to disconnect from the gadgets for a while and connect with real people and real sport. Who knows who could turn out to be the next All Star Player having learnt so many tactics gaming….Camp Play offers you to “Make Your Move “ to find your true self and potential & BE THE STAR.”
At Camp Play, campers will get introduced to sports like quidditch, human foosball, dodgeball, throwball, badminton, football, table tennis ,broomball, handball, Yoga, basketball, relays and even regular sessions on the ninja warrior course & trampoline. Camp Play also includes offbeat public speaking that helps the kids speak up, debate and present their ideas and thoughts fearlessly.
Campers will be divided into age-appropriate groups for daily activities but will participate in larger group activities and special events throughout the day, Camp location is the Dubai Sports World, conveniently located at the Metro station of Dubai World Trade Centre. Ages 5–15. Pick-up & Drop off is possible within Dubai at an added cost plus they’ll fuel up with a snack and encouraged to hydrated themselves with the required water intake making it a habit they hopefully carryon for life.
