Bluewaters, Meraas’ unique island destination and home to Ain Dubai, is all set to host the second phase of its three-month-long activation with the Bluewaters Open Gallery, in line with the ongoing Dubai Art Season. Running over the next four weekends until 30 March, the event is part of Meraas’ efforts to bring music, art and dance to Dubai in 2019.
Live art workshops by talented artists during this month will engage visitors of all ages every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3pm to 8pm. The workshops will include seashell painting, DIY unicorn dream catchers, a glow-in-the-dark doodle room, flower crown making, street style graffiti sessions, and a heart wall activation where visitors will get the chance to create a personalised mini heart canvas for their mums, as a personalised gift for Mother’s Day.
The festival will feature a series of open mic nights for budding comedians who think they have what it takes to tickle the funny bone of Bluewaters’ visitors, as well as art and sketch improv nights offering fun, interactive lessons for those keen to get their creative juices flowing.
To mark Earth Day with an artistic flourish this year, the destination will host a special workshop that teaches the participants how to give back to the environment through making functional solar-powered flashlights from recycled plastic bottles and glow sticks.
Social media enthusiasts seeking to up their ‘Gram game will love the living artist activation, where artists will paint directly onto models and the surrounding scenery. Creating living paintings that merge the dimensions and provide some unmissable Instagram moments.
