The Academy’s five-week machine learning course concluded this week and participants have gained key competencies and boosted their knowledge and skillsets
Samsung Gulf Electronics today announced its intentions to provide up-and-coming talent with further opportunities to enhance their skillset following the conclusion of the first UAE course delivered through the brands’ Future Academy. The first-of-its-kind five-week machine learning as an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) online course garnered interest from across the country, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response and reception from participants and the wider education and technology communities. Looking ahead, Samsung plans to hold similar courses and is eager to provide as many chances as possible for interested individuals to equip themselves with crucial knowledge, skills, and competencies.
“At Samsung, part of our vision has always been to inspire people and create a brighter future,” said Jerric Wong, Head of Corporate Marketing, Samsung Gulf Electronics. “Most recently, this has come to fruition as we introduced our Future Academy Program in the UAE. The machine learning training course’s subsequent success has provided us with much encouragement and enthusiasm, inspiring us to stage more opportunities in the years ahead. To succeed in tomorrow’s technological landscape, the national talent pool requires as many unique development avenues as possible. Moving forward, we hope to help countless aspiring professionals realize their potential. We are delighted with Future Academy’s impact in the UAE and look forward to introducing more courses soon.”
The Future Academy is a dedicated educational program that equips students with future-proof skills and competencies. As part of Samsung’s vision to inspire the world and help shape the future, residents across the country aged 18 and above – with an educational background and strong interest in pursuing a career in AI – were invited to apply earlier this year. Held under the theme ‘Be ready for tomorrow by learning about it today,’ the course took place from November 5th until December 7th, with successful applicants benefitting from practical education in relevant technologies through a blended learning, self-paced format.
Through the Future Academy’s specialized curriculum, participants learned about the tools and applications that feature prominently in machine learning and AI-related workplaces. Besides having access to content presentations and pre-recorded videos covering statistics, algorithms, and programming, participants completed exercises for each module, attended live virtual sessions, and interacted with an expert instructor, Dr. Hassan Nasser, Senior Data Scientist – with regular quizzes to test their knowledge and progress.
‘The imminent industrial revolution means that future tech skills specifically within artificial intelligence will be critical to youth and the future job market. From hundreds of applications 40 students received a very unique opportunity from the Future Academy to develop their interest and skills, which will hopefully take them as far as their next desired steps’, said Dr Hassan Nasser, Senior Data Scientist.
Before acquiring completion certificates that could boost employment prospects at the end of the course, participants also completed a final assessment. The program has been extremely beneficial, providing the perfect platform for determined beginners and learners to build their knowledge in machine learning and AI-related topics.
