Six months to one-year internship with chances of a permanent job within the Dubai Investments Group companies announced
Dubai Investments, the leading, diversified Investment company listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), has announced guaranteed paid internship opportunities to its wholly-owned subsidiary – University of Balamand Dubai (UOBD) graduates from 2021 onwards.
Students admitted to UOBD for any majors with high-grade averages will be offered, upon admission, a paid internship opportunity of 6 months to one-year upon graduation, with one of the companies, part of the Dubai Investments Group, according to their majors.
The conditional internship is only available to students graduating with a cumulative grade average of 85 or higher and adhere to UOBD’s policies on conduct and academic integrity throughout their years of study at UOBD. The interning students will stand a chance to potentially benefit from an extension and take up a permanent position within the host organization, upon the discretion of the employer.
“As part of our continuous commitment to invest in people, Dubai Investments has identified investing in youth as one among the major pillars that will govern the Company’s investments and businesses in the future. The diversified business portfolio of Dubai Investments will serve as an excellent platform for students to enrich their knowledge and enhance their professional growth. The guaranteed internships to deserving graduates are aimed at nurturing this future talent with the hope that they will become part of the Dubai Investments family,” said Khalid Bin Kalban, Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Investments.
Over the years, Dubai Investments has engaged in some strategic investments in the educational sector as part of its portfolio diversification and in line with the UAE government’s national agenda pillar of facilitating world-class education.
UOBD has reverted to offering most spring 2021 classes on campus instead of online, providing students with increased interaction with faculty and peers. The UOBD faculty will play an active role in identifying the most deserving candidates among the applicants who will then be matched with suitable internship roles. Consistent performance throughout the program will be crucial in evaluating students’ candidacy for various roles.
“UOBD programs are tailored to the needs of the UAE economy and society, and they focus on equipping students with the skills needed to be successful in a competitive marketplace. By implementing a robust internship programme in partnership with our group company – Dubai Investments, we aim to enable our students to build sound practical and technical knowledge through industry experiences, in addition to a strong academic foundation,” added Dr. Jihad S. Nader, Vice Chancellor and CEO of UOBD.
UOBD currently offers four undergraduate programs under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, namely Bachelor of Science programs in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The Faculty also offers a Graduate Professional Teaching Diploma program. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering are the programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering at the university. All of these programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the UAE Ministry of Education. Other programs are under review for initial accreditation by the CAA. Many new programs are planned for introduction in the next five years.
